The sun beat down on Captain Kolvaer as he marched. He knew that his troops were as exhausted as he was, but none of them complained. The eagle had reached them with Bel-Korath’s message that he had found the prince, but they had been ambushed by a Naggarothi force.

The ghostly green light was barely visible in the blinding sunshine of the desert morning, but the occasional crackles of sorcerous lightning were unmistakable. The ancient stone archway was all that remained of whatever had stood here centuries ago. A temple? A city? Any trace of it was now buried beneath the sand, but some otherworldly power had kept this one piece of it standing here, forgotten for all this time.
The column marched through the misty valley. Prince Caeladan was tired, but elated. The legends had proved to be true. They had found the dwarven tomb high in the mountains, as the old scrolls had said. The elves were surprised to find the entrances still sealed – even after thousands of years they hadn’t been raided by goblins or skaven – or worse.
